Cancer Fairy Godmother

A friend of mine was diagnosed with late stage breast cancer and she got deeper into her treatment she discovered many of the issues facing cancer patients today. She asked me to build her a site so that she could post resources for other people facing cancer treatment. The site became Cancer Fairy Godmother. Her cancer got treated and went into remission. She has kept up with the site offering information about fighting cancer and finding information about treatment and low cost and free services.

“The Cancer Fairy Godmother site is dedicated to reaching beyond the research and support group sites. Our goal is simply to … HELP THY NEIGHBOR. During these times of economic hardship it has become increasingly difficult to meet basic primary needs. The Cancer patient upon diagnosis is overwhelmed with life threatening decisions to make as well as worrying about financial matters which can become very stressful towards the road to recovery. The need for monetary assistance of any amount is critical. The co-payments for (doctor visits, infusion treatments, chemo, hospital stays, emergency room, prescriptions, wigs, food, over the counter drugs, rent, mortgage, etc. can add up into the thousands. Just a dollar or two will make the world of difference toward GIVING THE CANCER PATIENT a speedy recovery.”

Epic of King Gesar

This is a site I built during the research component of my work with Margaret Roach for her Open Your Hands website. I was doing keyword research, looking for heroes from ancient Tibet and Nepal. I stumbled across some translated texts by Sarangerel Odigon translating the Epic of King Gesar, one of the longest poems in the written history of man, found gathering dust in the Internet archives of The Way Back Web.

I republished the text and information about Sarangerel Odigon on a WordPress site, and went looking for a way to contact her. Unfortunately, she had passed away in the preceding year (2006). I left the site up as both a memorial and a way to preserve her amazing work.

I have been involved with IS 183′s Annual Fund-raising and Silent Auction parties for 3 years running. Michelle Quigley started working on the IS183 parties with The Snow Ball back in 2006. Volunteers in Medicine Berkshires – Created a parallel site vimberkshires.com for people to actually find VIM under the keyword space of ‘free health care in the Berkshires’ – VIM Berkshires – etc – They migrated the primary site to a BlueHost account, built a new site and did a permanent redirect to the primary domain.
